Marco Kreiling with his children’s book
“Fips, das kleine Murmeltier” (“Fips the little marmot”)

Marco Kreiling, who lives in Dornholzhausen near Kassel, wrote the children’s book “Fips, das kleine Murmeltier” (“Fips the little marmot”) in 1997 for his daughter Sarah. However, it took another eleven years before a friend of his encouraged him to publish the story as a real book. The little book has been illustrated with drawings by Armin Hanstein. The author self-published the book at his own expense, in order to support Nepalhilfe Beilngries and The Hans Kammerlander Trust. The children’s book, which is really very sweet and appropriate for children aged 4 to 8, is not available in the general book trade, but only in the bookshop Duft in Beilngries or by ordering it here. This fantastic story will make children happy both in Germany and in Nepal.

You can order the book for €9.95 + mailing expenses

 "Reiß mer'n nieder"

("Let’s pull it down“)

Net benefit of the book selling for the "Michl-Dacher-School“ in Nepal

Dacher

The book "Reiß mer'n nieder" (“Let’s pull it down”), which was written by the brothers Norbert and Gregor Herler, describes Michl Dacher’s climb of K2. Day and place for the presentation of the book were chosen with care: It was exactly thirty years ago (12th July 1979) when the mountaineers Michl Dacher and Reinhold Messner reached the peak of the second highest mountain in the world.
The only appropriate place for the presentation was Peiting, the former home town of the mountaineer, who died in December 1994. Over 200 people came to finally hold a book in their hands about Michl Dacher’s extraordinary alpine achievements.
Dacher, who was modest and down-to-earth all his life, had never been interested in such a book. His widow Josefine had acted according to his wish for a long time, but at the end of the day it was time – nearly fifteen years after his death – to publish a book in memory of one of the greatest and most successful German mountaineers ever.
In the end, Josefine Dacher approved the request of the authors Norbert and Gregor Herler on condition that the net profits from the book sales would go to the Michl-Dacher-School of Nepalhilfe Beilngries. The result was an informative and richly illustrated book of 168 pages with thoughts and photos by famous mountaineers and companions of Michl Dacher, such as Günter Sturm, Hans Kammerlander, Peter Habeler, Siegfried Hupfauer und Ralf Dujmovits. Thank you very much for your contribution. We especially want to thank the Herler brothers for their time-consuming research and their commitment. Also thanks to the sponsors.
