Support in Nepal

The work of Nepalhilfe Beilngries would be impossible without a committed team in the country itself. The Member Board working alongside the president Gautam Das Shresta has been doing all the required work voluntarily, efficiently and professionally. It consists of outstanding and well-known personalities from politics and business as well as of our friend and companion Sunil Shresta. It is the national counterpart of the Nepalhilfe in Beilngries (NGO = Non Governmental Organisation). The Board is responsible for the implementation of the planned projects in Nepal itself, which happens in consultation with the members of Nepalhilfe Beilngries (INGO = International Non Government Organisation).

Furthermore, the Board is responsible for the admission of new family members in the orphanage, examining the social and family conditions of the children on site. Only after successful examination will the admittance of the child to the children’s home be taken into consideration. This important job can’t be done from Germany because of official files, but can only be carried out locally in Nepal.

We have been able to rely completely on both of them, Shyam Pandit and Sunil Shresta, since 1994.

Sunil Shresta as Member of the Board is not only the coordinator of the activities of the children’s home but also of all the other projects, such as schools, farming land, ambulance car and so on. He is responsible for the disbursement of money, for the supervising of construction sites, for the communication with the relevant personnel and administrative bodies and for keeping track of upcoming tasks or projects. He is our “head-office” in Kathmandu, without whom the implementation of our projects in their current extent would be inconceivable.

Sunil has had support for some time now - from Shyam Pandit, who was the head teacher at our school in Kadambas and the surrounding mini-schools in Siran Chour and Muhlkarka for more than ten years. He has been a friend of Nepalhilfe Beilngries for many years. Since he finished his studies for a master’s degree at the University of Kathmandu, he has been supporting Sunil Shresta with the ever-increasing workload for the projects. We can be very proud of our hard-working, dynamic and absolutely reliable team, which will manage our future jobs competently.
