Gerlinde und Ralf Schule - Thulosirubari

Altitude:1500m
Pupils:517
Teachers:22
Classes:22

The „Gerlinde and Ralf School“ in Thulosirubari was to be six years old before it was completely destroyed by the earthquake. During the following months the building was levelled by heavy construction equipment. Before that, all reusable materials, like window frames, doors and railings, were saved. It should be used for the upcoming new building, which was to be started in September 2016. If the prognoses fulfil and the weather plays into our hands, we will be able to open the new “Gerlinde and Ralf School” in spring 2017 and offer 600 pupils a place for education.

The construction is in full progress. The new school is built on the site opposite the old school. The local authority of Thulosurowari hopes that the school building will be finished by the end of 2017 so that approximately 500 pupils who are learning in a provisional housing at the moment can move into the new building. The project “School up” by Stefan Nestler generates additional donations to boost the construction progress. The building will shine in yellow and red according to governmental regulations. Following the new construction standards, the building is only a one-storey building.

This school was built in April 2009 thanks to the big financial support of the great mountaineers Ralf Dujmovitis and his wife Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner. The school was built on a beautiful hill n ear Chautara and has about 500 pupils at the moment. Many members of the Nepalhilfe Beilngries visited this school in January 2010 and got an impression of how teachers and pupils work there.
