Presentation of the NHB Calendar 2012 in Altdorf - October 2011

Experience passion above 8000 metres

The latest event with the extreme mountaineers Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner and Ralf Dujmovits showed again the long lasting hearty relationship between the members of the DAV Section Altdorf and the NHB e. V. On 4th October 2011, the married couple showed their impressive photos in the big gymnasium of the Altdorf primary school to 600 enthusiastic viewers. This was their first public slide show after their ascent of K2. The title of the show is “Experience passion above 8000 metres: risk – retreat – success”

With the ascent of K2 in Pakistan some weeks ago, Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner was able to fulfill her aim of climbing all fourteen of the highest peaks in the world without any artificial oxygen. She thus followed h er husband’s example, who managed to climb all those peaks three years ago.

Both mountaineers once again showed their close relationship to NHB as they are deeply bound up with the members of the organization and their projects. This can be seen in the two schools in Thulosirubari and Irkhu, which have been financially supported by the couple.

The deputy chairman, Manfred Lindner, thanked all the people who had committed themselves to the success of the event, especially the two contributors who had travelled from the Black Forest to Altdorf just for that event and who have always supported the NHB in an extraordinarily generous way.

After their slide show, Mrs. Kaltenbrunner and her husband Mr. Dujmovits are presenting the new Himalaya Calendar of the “Nepalhilfe Beilngries”. Many photos of this calendar were taken once again by those two outstanding mountaineers.
